Introduction to KFTC

Kentuckians For The Commonwealth is a community of people taking action for justice. We work with people to organize in their home communities and across the state. We help everyday community members become extraordinary community leaders. We support community leaders as they build effective organizations. Together, we win important issue campaigns.

Kentuckians For The Commonwealth is an organization whose structure, priorities, and approach to change are based upon a handful of core beliefs and values. We believe that social, economic, and political justice is possible and can be won in this country through non-violent means. We believe that many different yet complementary methods must be employed to achieve this change and that the most critical is the active and informed participation by average citizens in public decision-making, especially those people impacted and oppressed by powerful institutions and circumstances. We believe that individuals are important, but lasting change is created by stable, ambitious, and courageous organizations. We believe that credible organizations must win tangible victories that impact the daily lives of the communities and people they serve. We believe that only by overcoming discrimination through education and practice can we realize broad social change and that we can create change by learning, teaching, modeling, and finally demanding real democracy in form and spirit.
