Art Education Internships

Position Overview:


Art education interns will work with the Arts Education Coordinator and other educational staff, to support a variety of programs and events of the Living Arts and Science Center. Duties will vary but may include researching and preparing activities and materials for outreach programs, classes and special events; leading hands-on art activities and representing the center at events around town; assisting or teaching in select classes or early care or aftercare programs; supervising open-studio sessions; organizing and maintaining classroom spaces and supplies; soliciting donations of class supplies; producing class rosters and performing other filing and data-entry tasks; and communicating with teachers, students, parents, and partner organizations. Applicants should be creative problem solvers who are excited about teaching and learning. In addition, they should be interested in teaching and sharing with children, be organized, flexible, and able to work independently and prioritize multiple time sensitive tasks.

Interns must be able to work in a collaborative atmosphere, and have good email, phone and interpersonal communication skills. A background in visual arts and/or performing arts, art administration, and/or K12 education is required. This internship is unpaid.





Qualifications:


  • Must be 18 and currently enrolled in a higher education program
  • Must pass a simple background check ($30 fee)
  • Must be organized and able to work independently
  • Capacity to work with multiple age groups
  • Be confident with and enjoy working with children • Background in Art and/or Education
