Marketing Intern

The marketing intern will assist with all photo and video creative needs of Louisville Folk School. The intern will capture, edit, and deliver photos and videos for print and digital marketing. Working under the guidance of the executive director, the intern will be responsible for producing high-quality content highlighting the school’s classes, events, and community outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Take photographs & videos of concerts, summer camps, and classes
  • Film & edit videos for Instagram and YouTube
  • Develop a robust photo and video library
  • Create and execute a social media marketing strategy that engages current students and attracts new ones
  • Finalize a job description and framework for an ongoing marketing position

Acquired Skills

As a result of working as a marketing intern, the student will acquire and further develop their photography and videography skills, communication, time management, attention to detail, adaptability, and creative thinking.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a degree program related to marketing, communications, photography, videography, or a related field.
  • Comfort with Instagram and YouTube
  • Proficiency in photography and videography techniques, including lighting and audio/video editing. Familiarity with graphic design is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Apple OS
  • Competency working with LFS-provided Lumix GX-85 Mirrorless Camera + 12-32mm, 45-150mm Lenses, or your similarly capable photography/videography gear.
  • Collaborative, organized, detail-oriented, and respectful of deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in creating content for social media and/or websites.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for music, arts, and community engagement is desirable.

Schedule

  • June & July
  • 40 hours per week: weekdays, evenings, and some Saturdays
     

Physical Demands

This position requires regular use of cameras and computer equipment. The role involves navigating a second-floor location accessible only by stairs. Some events are held outdoors in grassy areas, which may require movement over uneven terrain. Occasional physical activities may include bending, stooping, and carrying equipment during shoots.
 

Funding

This is an unpaid internship. However, interns are eligible for grant funding through the Berea College Office of Internships and Career Development.
