Behavioral Health Services Intern
Job Summary:
Behavioral Health Interns will provide support to the behavioral health services team programs. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to observe the daily operations of case management and clinical therapy services. Should the intern have a desire to explore non-profit leadership, the intern will have opportunities to participate in and shadow meetings with those in behavioral health leadership.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observe the work of experienced professionals (i.e., case managers and clinicians) and gain hands-on experience in the human services field.
- Complete mock paperwork and documentation to support the clinical team when observations occur.
- Attend departmental team meetings and complete team meeting notes, when assigned.
- Provide support to front desk staff: greeting service recipients, answering phones, and scheduling sessions.
- Collaborate with supervisors and behavioral health team members as needed.
- Assist in development of trainings for future interns, team members, and the community.
- Assist in archiving medical records and learn about the importance of maintaining records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in developing resource list for the community in which service recipients are served.
- Contact previous service recipients in the Multisystemic Therapy (MST) program and conduct 6- and 12-month post-discharge surveys. Collect data and share with program leadership.
- Participate in weekly supervision with supervisor or designee.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report activities conducted.
- Good spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
- Ability to present oneself in an appropriately personable and professional manner to team members and service recipients.
- Ability to receive and utilize constructive feedback regarding performance, presentation, and relationships with others.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be enrolled in a two- or four-year accredited institution, preferably studying in the human services or related field(s).
Physical Requirements:
- Works in office area(s) as well as in other community settings.
- May require travel throughout the community.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions.
- Ability to work in a confined area.
- Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period.
- May occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
