Description
The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet (EEC) serves the public by enforcing laws relating to natural resources and the environment.
The EEC encompasses a wide variety of functions related to the protection of the environment and the health and safety of its citizens while supporting a positive business climate EEC has internships opportunities, in 18 locations, that serve the entire commonwealth.
Interns can expect:
- EEC offers fall, spring, and summer internships
- $15/hour pay
- 37.5-hour work week
- EEC gear
- Great experience to build a resume
Intern duties include:
- Accompanying field staff on site visits
- Assisting full time employees in performing inspections in addition to reviewing and analyzing data that was collected
- Working with other interns and full-time staff on collaborative projects
Qualifications to apply:
- Must be a student in pursuit of a degree in environmental science, biology, geology, chemistry, or other natural/physical science related degrees. Recent graduates will also be considered.
- 3.0 GPA
- Great communication skills
- Strong technical and analytical skills
- Self-starter, motivated, and eager to learn
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,and Outlook

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be enrolled on a full-time basis in high school as a junior or senior or enrolled on a full-time basis at an accredited Kentucky post-secondary school or other educational institutions approved by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet. Applicants must furnish proof of enrollment in such a program to the Personnel Cabinet.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
