Student Program Associate (Primary)


Labor Position Title: Student Program Associate
Primary (10 hours per week)
Campus Department: Internship Program in the Office of Internships & Career Development
Term: Fall 2022
WLS: Depends on skill/experience

  • scheduled Monday through Friday during normal ICD office hours (8:30-5:00) 
  • including Virtual Drop-In Hours when possible (some lunch hours/evenings)
  • with occasional evenings/weekends (work hours during the week can be flexed/adjusted in these cases)

Who would be a great fit?
  • Sophomore or Junior majoring in (or interested in majoring in) human resources, business, education, or communications (but open to all majors)
  • Students who have participated in, or plan to do an internship, will be given preference
 
What would you get to do? 
The Internship Program assists students in planning and participating in internship experiences while supporting the institutional commitment to engage students as they pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals.

  • Answer questions from students related to the Internship Program via email, phone, Zoom, and in person - and help them connect to great resources!
  • Provide excellent customer service to students and employers
  • Schedule appointments as needed
  • Monitor/approve employers in Handshake
  • Assist with numerous internship and career development events (Workshops, Employer Events, Career Fairs, Vanderbilt Day, Cornell Weekend, Internship Launch Party, etc.)
  • Assist with processing Internship Proposals, Agreements, and Evaluations
  • Assist Director of Internships, Internship Coordinator, & Administrative Assistant with other duties as assigned

Possible assignments, depending on interests, skills, and trainings:
  • Conduct class presentations and information sessions
  • Assist with social media and online presence
  • Write internship profiles 
  • Research featured blogs, articles, videos, resources
  • Design promotional materials in Canva 

It would also be great (but not required) if you:
  • Love being creative with social media outreach
  • Love talking to other students
  • Have experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Word & Excel) 
  • Are good with details
  • Can learn to utilize Handshake and uConnect
  • Can work independently and as part of a team 
  • Comfortable working in a professional, fun, fast-paced environment
