Medicine for the Greater Good Intern

Project Summary:

The Chairman's Office at the Johns Hopkins Bayview MedicalCenter is seeking interns to assist with promotions, outreach, development activities, education, and special events as related to Medicine for the Greater Good. The intern will report directly with MGG staff and faculty but will work closely with Dr. Panagis Galiatsatos (Founder, Medicine for the Greater Good) and the MGG team.

Duration: The bulk of the work will be completed between May 26-August 1; Opportunity to extend.

Hours: 35-40 hours per week. Typically 4-5 days per week. Schedule negotiable.

Compensation: Internship position is not compensated; however parking and meal stipends are included.

About the Center for Innovative Medicine: The Center for Innovative Medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview is founded upon the belief that Medicine is a Public Trust. The Center, which includes scientists, educators, clinicians, and administrators, strives to identify and implement novel ways to make Medicine a better public trust. Projects have focused on developing innovative clinical centers for excellence, teaching foundational principles of medical education, and engaging our community to decrease disparities in healthcare.

About Medicine for the Greater Good: Medicine for the Greater Good (MGG) is an initiative aimed at improving medical education in regards to health disparities and socioeconomic barriers while engaging the local community to help overcome these issues. MGG seeks to bridge the gap in health disparities between the hospital and the community, and our current aim is to help achieve a 5 year increase in life expectancy in our surrounding neighborhoods.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with development of creative concepts and marketing strategies for promoting the work of the Center for Innovative Medicine and Medicine for the Greater Good.
  • Develops content for promotional materials including direct mail pieces, print and electronic newsletters, web site stories, and other materials as needed.
  • Assists with the planning and coordination of special events, including MGG Symposium and Board Meeting
  • Shadows Dr. Galiatsatos in the clinical setting.
  • Other organizational and administrative tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Strong creativity
  • Ability to work both independently and part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proof of MMR Immunization, Chicken Pox vaccine, Negative PPD test, Flu, and COVID vaccination - needed for volunteer services
